HOW DO I...
REGISTER?
To register at the Orchid House Surgery, please bring your medical card to
the surgery and the receptionist will register you with the practice. If you
do not have a medical card please ask for an application form. Temporary residents
are registered on a special form at reception.
Orchid House Surgery does not discriminate on the ground of: race; gender;
social class; age; religion; sexual orientation or appearance; disabilty or medical
condition.
After registration you may see any doctor.
Patients are now no longer able to register with an individual GP, but with a
GP surgery. Unfortunately, the computer registration systems at the Dorset Family
Health Service Agency have yet to catch up with this change and patients may
still be under the impression that they have to see the doctor named on their
NHS medical card.
Orchid House Surgery does not operate a system of 'personal lists' - we have
six GPs who are available to all patients. It is therefore not necessary to see
the doctor named on your NHS medical card or see the same doctor every time you
need to make an appointment, although, as a general rule, it is better to continue
with one doctor when being treated for a particular ongoing condition.
